Pimples, Zits, Spots, and Acne

What can I do about pimples? And when should I seek treatment for my acne?

According to Neutrogena, nearly 100% of teens will have some acne. But the good news is that most people get less acne as they get older.

Trial and error with drugstore treatments can help, or consider going to a dermatologist. Topical products are popular, but do keep in mind that it takes time for most acne treatments to work. Have patience while you’re trying to figure out what works for you. Have a daily routine and be diligent about washing your face before bed. Eat a healthy diet and drink plenty of water. Don’t overwash your face, but gently wash your face twice a day.

If no over the counter (OTC) medications are working, you can go to the doctor. In some cases, an oral antibiotic may be prescribed. If you do go to the dermatologist, it is important for you as a teen to go with your parent, so you can both talk to the doctor together.

Clean skin for the win!
